Our Newest Member Of The Team
We are pleased to introduce Bella as the newest addition to Marches Farm Vets, she will be starting with us in October and we are excited to welcome her to the team.
Hello everyone! My name is Bella and I graduated from Liverpool University in 2024 and I am starting my vet career at Marches Farm Vets. I grew up in a tiny village in South Yorkshire where our garden backs up onto sheep fields. At age 11 I started working on the farm feeding the cade lambs and I’ve never looked back! Each year I took on more responsibilities, aged 14 I went with the farmer to the vets to take a sheep for a caesarean and that was it. I was going to be a farm animal vet. 9 years later here I am very excited to join Marches Farm Vets. My main interest includes all things reproduction, sheep and post mortem investigation. Outside of work I enjoy baking, crafts and aerial hoop fitness. I look forward to meeting you all on farm soon.
Vet absence
Rich is having knee surgery the beginning of October. He is hoping to be back in November, all being well. We are all wishing him a speedy recovery.
Congratulations Lydia!
Lydia has finished her Vet Tech course at Harper Adams, she is now fully qualified. She graduated this month and we couldn't be more proud of her and her brilliant achievement. Well done Lydia!
Government funded TB testing
As some of you may have heard Lydia is now a qualified ATT (TB tester!). Big congratulations after all her hard work alongside being in the office and her veterinary technician coursework! We also have Mel currently in training to.
This means we are now able to carry out government funded TB testing, so if you would like us to do your whole herd test, please follow the steps below:
1. Call UK Farmcare on 0800 6125289 and say you would like Marches Farm Vets to do your whole herd tests.
2. Farmcare will send you a form to fill out which you send back confirming you would like us to do your whole herd test.
3. We then confirm from Farmcare and will contact you once this process is completed to confirm a test date.
Please note that you will need to have changed preferences at least 3 weeks before the end date to move across to us as it takes some time to get confirmation from Farmcare.

EU Change of Legislation - selling livestock
We are sure most of you will already be aware of the new Veterinary Attestation requirement !
From 13 December 2023 UK producers sending animals to market or to slaughter must be able to demonstrate that a veterinary visit has taken place in the past 12 months.
There is the option to have this visit funded through the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway funding which has just had the application process for farmers significantly simplified.
We can also use this visit to include your prescription review which then allows us to prescribe POM-V medicines for use on your farm.
Please look at LAA for more details on the change of legislation or alternatively contact the office on 01568 701920
